I haven't posted for a long time. Lately I've just been doing some maintenance miles -- last race was back in June -- a trail half marathon. Summer was busy with lots of visitors and a move so training for a half or marathon just wasn't very feasible. I will have to hope for some good racing next year once everything is all thawed out!

The nice thing about doing maintenance miles is I can typically take my running buddy with.
Sherlock has been doing great in the fall weather, and has gotten up to 8 miles with me.

Another fun thing I've been doing is trying out my new running shoes. I love new shoes!! They are from Brooks' new Pure Project line which is awesome. I decided to go with the Pure Flow model and they are very comfortable AND light! A perfect shoe to rotate with my Brooks Launches. Any they're stylish! :)

Starting things up again

Well, I haven't posted here in a while. Took a little bit of a running hiatus to coach and play soccer, and am now ready to get back into it again. I'm currently on week 3 of my marathon training plan, and things are going well so far! I've already hit my highest mileage week ever last week with a total of 44.5 miles, and things only go up from there.

As long as I can stay injury free and on schedule, I'm feeling really good about qualifying for Boston this December.

I'm definitely looking forward to my race this weekend up in MN -- it should be perfect weather! A huge change from running in 85+ temps and 70% humidity here. In fact, I'll probably be cold at the start. :)

Just thought I'd post some videos here for people who don't have access to Facebook....

Sherlock's New Trick!

This is an older video from when he was a puppy of his cute puppy bark. :)

Puppy Run 01/07/2008

  • Distance: 4.04 mi.
  • Time: 39:00 (9:39 min/mi.)
  • Weather: 64 F Dark Out
Ran with the puppy. This is the longest run so far for him! He did great, and is getting better about not stopping too much during the run and not pulling too much. First run with my new headlamp also, it was great at night to not be restricted to the one road with lights on it -- and nice to be able to glance at the puppy and make sure he was moving ok and that the leash wasn't messed up.

Yuma New Years Resolution Race 01/05/2008

  • Distance: 3.1mi.
  • Time: 24:11 (7:48 min/mi.)
  • Weather: 53 F
Yuma New Years Resolution 5K/10K run. Signed up for the 10K but after mile 2 was feeling dizzy, stopped at a water stop to try and get undizzy and decided I should switch to the 5K. Slowed way down by the end. Oh well. Still got 3rd in my age group. Splits were something like 7:05, 7:59, 8:30. Probably shouldn't have ran today since I'm still a little sick (stupid sinus infection).
